To be asked to be the Captain of a Golf Clubs is something really special, but then to be elected as Captain of the SNGC it is indeed a huge honour, not just for me but also for the City of Newcastle Golf Club where I am in my 47th year of membership.
I am really looking forward to my year as Captain of this great Society made of some 650 past captains. I will try my best to uphold the traditions of the Society in performing the duties required of me. There have been some great Captains over the years and with the support of the Committee and the Liaison Officers I will endeavour to maintain the high standards set.
I look forward to meeting you all throughout the year at our annual programme of events where we can renew old friendships and would encourage you to support them. Details of all events can be obtained elsewhere on the SNGC website, please try and continue the success of this great society which was formed back in 1977.
Northumberland golf is in a very good place at this time let us all do our best to support it if we are able and keep it moving in the correct direction.
The Society was founded in 1977 and now has a membership of more than 600 gentlemen who are Past Captains of Golf Clubs in the County of Northumberland.
The two main golf events each year are the Spring and Autumn meetings held at various golf courses throughout the County.
Annual matches are held against teams from other County Captains' Societies. The Society's annual Dinner is a highlight of the County golf Calendar. The AGM is now held a few weeks after the Dinner
